We all love our lounge- and tracksuit pants especially while staying home, but a change every now and then is rather exciting. A casual skirt like Good Clothing’s Lounge Skirt is a welcome alternative to sweatpants and can make a great contribution to an outfit. Available in melange grey and green, these versatile pieces fit over the knee, have a slit at the back and have two pockets.
When it comes to online shopping we find customers are surprisingly nervous about purchasing skirts. Dresses, pants and tops are generally much more popular than skirts. This is rather curious since skirts are generally much easier to fit than say, pants. Pants have to fit over the bum and thighs and in the waist, where a skirt (unless it’s a bodycon style) just needs to fit in the waist. We wonder if this purchase behaviour is because women sometimes wonder what to wear with a skirt. Here are some ideas on how to style the comfy Good Lounge Skirt.
SKIRT OUTFIT 1:
In this outfit, the casual skirt has been glammed up with a velvet and mesh top by Joburg brand JMVB. For accessories we choose Wanderland Collective’s round bag with unique ocean-inspired art on velvet. We emphasized the ocean theme with Kirsten Goss‘ cute little clam Huggie Earrings (available in silver, gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil). The charms that hang from the little hoops are removable and other single charms can be bought to mix and match with. We finished off this glam-casual look with Reefer’s hemp eco-sneakers. Not only are these sneakers ultra-cool and comfy, but the upper is also biodegradable and the sole is recyclable.
Keep your makeup minimal with this cool-girl casual look.
Will this outfit suit me?
This is a very easy-wearing skirt outfit that will fit many body types.
The velour top is shorter in length and sits in the waist. The fabric is loose on the body and doesn’t cling. The mesh sleeves are very clever, the light fabric is cooler than a solid sleeve but covers the arms. This not only looks edgy but is great for women who prefer to cover their arms.
The skirt length is over the knee and it has a slit at the back for ease of movement. It is made from tracksuit-type fabric which is thick enough to cover bumps and has a natural stretch. The waistband has a drawstring and can be tied at the height you prefer. Although this skirt has a straight cut, it is not narrow. The slight A-line means that it suits curvy women just as well as non-curvy ones.
SKIRT OUTFIT 2:
In this outfit, we used the same skirt and velvet bag. We made the look transitional by adding the coral bodysuit that picks up the flecks of coral in the bag. The jersey by Asha Eleven is knitted from 100% cotton yarn using Cotton made in Africa (CmiA). The front of the jersey is coral and the back is blue with black and lime. A quirky touch. This knitwear is ultra soft and cosy while still being breathable. We simply adore it! For transitional days we like to wear the Greta Suede Sandal by House of Cinnamon. If the weather is cool switch to sneakers.
We like warm, coral-coloured eye makeup with this outfit with a soft, barely there lipstick/gloss.

Will this outfit suit me?
The bodysuit has a “built-in bra” which should be fine for smaller chests but larger busts will likely need more support. The bodysuit is made from hemp which is NOT a stretchy fabric but does reshape a little when worn. Please take this into account when choosing a size. If you choose a size that’s too small it may be too short in the body. The bodysuit straps are adjustable.
The jersey is slightly long in the body and comes over the hip. It has an oversized fit and extra long sleeves. You will very likely need to roll the sleeves over when wearing it. The neck is high but unlike a poloneck it is loose. This item should suit most body types since it is a loose, slouchy fit.
The fit for the skirt is as described in the outfit above.
