During my recent visit to Franco International, I chatted to Calan Goodwin, stylist and co-owner of the Hyde Park Corner branch. Franco International has always helped and encouraged its stylists to travel abroad for training so you know you’re getting the most up to date and cutting-edge advice on trends.
“Lobs are still very popular, and the shorter box-bob is very trendy now,” says Calan, “they are worn textured and naturally curly. To enhance the natural wave, hair is defused and enhanced with specialized products.”
Sounds like a low maintenance style, doesn’t it? To enhance your natural curl use these products:
From a colour point of view, blonde has moved from very light to more multi-tonal, softer colours. “Multi-tonal blonde works particularly well for mid-length or longer hair which has plenty of movement.” says Calan.
“Copper tones are also on-trend at the moment. It can be a tricky colour to pull off so make sure you get the right advice.” Calan says that the trend calls for deep roots with lighter ends. The colour can vary from light to dark copper, and from warmer “orange-copper tones” to cooler “pink-copper tones”. Choose the right colour for your complexion.
And then of course the pastel colour trend is big. Redken City Beats has introduced a range of semi-permanent colours that are inspired by the New York skyline. This trend varies from a soft tinge to an intense, deep colour. “Personally, I would go for something subtle like a rose gold tinge,” says Calan, “but there is a huge range to choose from.”
Very pretty, but I think I will leave this trend to the adventurous and stick to the multi-tonal blonde for now!
