As the year draws to an end we’re all tired, our skin is showing it too. So, amongst all the rush to finish up the year’s activities, I decided to re-establish a mask routine so that my skin looks radiant (or at least less tired) when I go on holiday. Here are a few of my favourite face masks.
1. THE K-BEAUTY SECRET STASH
I always keep one of these Korean beauty rubber masks in my drawer (see 1. below) They provide an instant calming-effect on the skin and help reveal radiance. All three are excellent but my favourite is the Vitamin mask.
The Collagen mask helps provide moisture. The Pearl mask promotes radiance. And the Vitamin masks helps to brighten the skin. They come as a powder in a little cup with a spoon/spatula. You simply add 7 spoons of water, mix and apply the mask for 15 minutes.
2. THE DAILY SAVIOR
I’ve been using the Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer (see 2. below) on and off for years, and it’s fantastic. It comes in 35 small packages that contain finger mits with a measured, leave-on dose of alpha and beta hydroxy acids and enzymes to smooth the skin, helping to reduce the signs of premature aging without irritation or redness.
3. THE VITAMIN BOOSTER
Another Dermalogica product, the Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque will instantly wake up your skin and get rid of that “grey” tinge we so often have when tired. It contains vitamins A, C, and E that helps skin recover from photodamage and dehydration.
4. THE FRUITY OVERHAUL
The Papaya + Pineapple Sherbet (see 4. below) natural mask from local skincare brand SKOON. will leave your skin ultra smooth and retexturized. The natural enzymes in papaya and pineapple as well as white kaolin clay, gently exfoliate the skin and remove impurities.
5. THE PINK POTION
The Lulu & Marula Nourishing Mask & Polish (see 5. below) comes in a dry powder which one mixes with a little water to form a paste. The red Moroccan clay and French pink clay absorbs toxins and exfoliates your skin. Hibiscus flower and rosehip helps to calm and improve circulation of the skin. And lastly chamomile soothes and fights against irritation.
6. THE PORE CLEANSER
We love this easy 2-in-1 Hot and Cool Pore Pack Duo by Caolion (see 6. below). Step one is the Pore Purifying Steaming Pack, a ‘hot’ treatment that ‘steams’ to gently penetrate pores to remove impurities. It contains sparkling water, kaolin clay, charcoal powder and oatmeal. The Pore Original Pack is the ‘cold’ second step, which features a potent blend of glacier clay, mineral-rich volcanic ash and charcoal to absorb excess sebum and reduce the appearance of pores. Peppermint leaf extract and menthol impart a cooling, calming effect.
