Resurfacing productThere has been a flurry of new resurfacing products entering the market that promise to smoothe, de-flake and brighten the skin. Most of them contain Alpha Hydroxy or Glycolic Acids that make the skin tingle and almost immediately reveal smoother firmer skin. I’ve tried a few over the last few months and here are three of my favourites:

Although this resurfacing product is called a cleanser, I used it as a second step in my routine since it isn’t designed to remove makeup. I first used my J.One Jelly Cleanser to remove all makeup and debris, and then followed with the Glyco-lactic Creamy Cleanser. One leaves it on for a minute or two to work its magic before rinsing it off.

This product contains Lactic and Glycolic Acid that instantly makes your skin warm and tingly when you apply it. I saw almost immediate results after one day and dramatically smoothing results after only three days of day and night use. Even my husband tried it and loved it for its purifying properties.

Note: Don’t use the Glyco-lactic Creamy Cleanser on broken skin. I discovered a little scratch on my forehead after feeling the sting!

After using it every day and night for a week, I decided to rest my skin for a day or two before using it again. The results truly are remarkable and at such a reasonable price.

SAI Glyco-Lactic Creamy Cleanser, R540 BUY

This is a new resurfacing product from Dermalogica. It comes in a little pouch with ten individual treatments. You snap off the top and apply the product to clean skin for 3 – 7 minutes.

Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel is not the kind of peel where you expect your skin to flake. Although potent, it is quite gentle on the skin. It does, however, provide the wonderful tingle when applied!

The product contains a complex of phytoactive AHA extracts, Lactic Acid and fermented plant enzymes which claim to help reveal new, firmer skin. Pumpkin Fruit Enzyme and Rice Bran Extract help even skin tone and Australian Caviar Lime Extract brightens the skin.

The instructions say to start off with a treatment a day for three days followed by one treatment a week. I can safely say that after three days I saw an improvement in my skin’s tone and brightness.  I think this product will also go well with another of their amazing new releases, the Biolumin-C Serum.

Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel

Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel, R1499 BUY

Just like the Dermalogica Rapid Reveal Peel, this is not a peel where you can expect your skin to flake. Expect the wonderful tingle from this resurfacing product though! I’ve been using this product on and off for a year and am always impressed with the results. If your skin needs a pick-me-up this is the product for you. What’s more, it’s made from vegetarian ingredients.

Malic Acid from Green Apple and Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids supply spa-grade microdermabrasion which reduces the appearance of lines, wrinkles, dark spots. The Green Apple Peel also contains brightening vitamin A, C, and E.

I find that once a week application is enough with this treatment. Expect a little redness for a short while if you have sensitive skin. This should settle and will reveal a healthy glow.
