I think the fact that I recently turned 40 has made me more curious and adventurous when it comes to skin and aesthetic treatments. That, and the need to create new content for Equilibrio has lured me into experimenting slightly more. Some treatments have been successful, others not, some have been painful and many uncomfortable. But when I was offered a facial Oxygen Treatment that isn’t invasive but still effective, I jumped at it.
WHAT IS AN OXYGEN TREATMENT?
There are four kinds of Intraceuticals Oxygen Treatments on offer at Anti-aging Art in Houghton, Johannesburg. Each is similar but target a different concern: hydration, ageing, radiance or breakouts.
Since we’re in the middle of a hydration sapping winter in Joburg, I chose the Rejuvenate Oxygen Treatment. A non-invasive treatment that targets the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dramatically enhances overall hydration.
Very simply, the treatment involves a concentrated serum and an oxygen puffing device that helps to push the serum into the skin.
HOW THE TREATMENT WORKS
The Rejuvenate Serum that I received in my treatment contains lightweight Hyaluronic Acid and a powerful combination of vitamins and antioxidants. The Hyaluronic Acid helps to hydrate the skin resulting in increased firmness, reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improved look to facial contours and overall radiance.
Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient found naturally in the skin. The lightweight version of Hyaluronic Acid in the Rejuvenate Serum is absorbed quickly by the skin for maximum dispersion of nutrients. The combination of the Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins A, C, E and Green Tea result in instantly in smoother looking skin with reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, better volume and increased firmness.
Oxygen under light pressure aids delivery of age-defying ingredients to the skin at the same time as cooling and calming the skin. The cool, firm puff of oxygen instantly calms the skin, while lightly massaging it.
The cooling, calming, pressurised oxygen increases absorption of the Rejuvenate Serum and naturally improves your skin’s moisture levels while Vitamins and antioxidants protect and defend the skin.
A final product seals in and supplements the skin nutrients for maximum synergistic effect and longer lasting results.
The treatment took about 45minutes. I didn’t try it this time, but it is often paired with a peel. The peel deeply exfoliates the skin and makes it more susceptible to products and nutrition, making an Oxygen Treatment the perfect second step.
The extra hydration and firmness lasted about a week but was instantly visible. My dry and dehydrated skin felt immediately hydrated and more supple.
It is definitely a treatment that I’d do again to rescue my skin or just before an event where I need a radiance or hydration boost.
Other than the Rejuvenate Oxygen Treatment there are also the Opulence, Atoxelene and Clarity treatments. The price per treatment ranges between R1800 and R2000 at Anti-aging Art in Johannesburg.
