Equilibrio stocks garments and accessories by local designers. All sizing is South African.
To many of the local designers represented on Equilibrio, their seamstresses and tailors are like family. They’ve been working with the designers for years and their income often helps sustain entire households.
When COVID-19 hit our shores and the lockdown was instated, the designers sent their seamstresses and tailors home to keep them safe. Unfortunately, as small businesses, they may not be able to pay their staff for the full period that their businesses are closed, and UIF or other relief may take time.
HOW WE’RE TRYING TO HELP
In the hopes to help, Equilibrio has established the Essentials for Seamstresses Fund on our site. This enables customers to voluntarily donate the amount of their choice. Equilibrio is itself committing R5000 to the initiative. All funds will be distributed to tailors and seamstresses who work for local designers represented on Equilibrio in order for them to buy essential goods.
HOW TO DONATE
There are two ways to voluntarily donate to the Essentials for Seamstresses Fund on our website.
1. From the “Donation – Essentials for Seamstresses” product page (this page)
Simply choose an amount from the dropdown box and click “add to cart”. The donation will be added to your order. You can check out as normal.
2. Transfer into our bank account
You’re also welcome to transfer a donation of any amount into our bank account and we will distribute it to the tailors and seamstresses. Please use the word “donation” and your name as the reference and send your payment confirmation to [email protected].
Our bank details:
Account: 627 385 95951
Equilibrio will consult with the designers and distribute the funds to the tailors and seamstresses who need it most. Any amount, no matter how small, will help their staff buy essential goods during this difficult time.
Another way to help is by buying garments on Equilibrio. Keeping orders and money coming in will help keep the local designers’ businesses afloat and the tailors and seamstresses employed.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
