In May Equilibrio went to a new product launch by skincare brand Dermalogica. Mich has been a huge fan of the brand for a long time. I’ve been keen to try Dermalogica myself, so we were both pleased to be invited.
The launch kicked off with talks on the importance of getting enough quality sleep each night to maintaining healthy skin. We were then introduced to Dermalogica’s new Sound Sleep Cocoon by Lauren Gibson, the regional manager for Dermalogica in the eastern and western cape. For us, two fabulous things occurred at the event. Firstly we received a free sample of the Sound Sleep Cocoon and secondly, Equilibrio was introduced to Lauren.
Lauren has been in the health and skincare industry for over 10 year’s as well as the IT and fashion industry. She has worked for Dermalogica for the last 6 years as an educator, brand consultant and now, as the regional manager for the western and eastern cape. Happily for Equilibrio, Lauren generously agreed to contribute some articles on beauty and related trends from time to time. This month, she’s done a piece on the importance of getting enough sleep to our general well-being and indeed, our skin. You can read her first post written for Equilibrio here.
DERMALOGICA’S SOUND SLEEP COCOON™
Sleep is the closest thing we have to the fountain of youth. It’s when cell repair and turnover are at their highest, and the skin is best able to absorb active ingredients.
Sound Sleep Cocoon is a brightening and revitalizing treatment gel-cream that works with the skin’s natural overnight repair and recovery process, delivering active ingredients while you sleep. Tamarind seed extract helps to infuse the skin with essential hydration that’s lost during the day. Persian silk tree extract reduces signs of skin fatigue and restores vitality, while Wu-Zhu-Yu extract encourages radiance.
Sound Sleep Cocoon is formulated with motion-activated essential oils like French Lavender oil, and calming Sandalwood and Patchouli. These combine to soothe the senses with aromatherapy and promote deep, restful sleep for healthier-looking skin.
Dermalogica selects only quality ingredients available from eco-safe sources and packages them in recyclable containers. The products are non-comedogenic and are free of occlusive mineral oil, lanolin, S.D. alcohol, formaldehyde and irritating artificial colors or fragrance. Key ingredients include natural essential oils and extracts, naturally purifying and calming agents, and fruit enzymes. Dermalogica products are not tested on animals.
WHAT EQUILIBRIO SAYS
Because of its gel-like consistency, this product is best used as the final step in your evening skincare routine. After cleaning, treating with a serum and then moisturising, I apply the Sound Sleep Cocoon as the final step in my bedtime routine. No matter what the time, I’ve been making sure to use this in the method prescribed by Dermalogica, which is demonstrated in the video below. Using 1-2 pumps, gently massage the product into the face. Then cup the hands together in front of your face, and inhale the relaxing and calming scent. Mich revealed she does the same. We agree that it’s a wonderfully calming bedtime routine.
We are both enjoying this product. Thanks to numerous late nights and the onset of winter, my skin was suffering badly with dry patches. I then started religiously applying my Kudu Squalane Serum, Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Moisturiser and finishing off my bedtime routine with the Dermalogica Sound Sleep Cocoon. My skin’s moisture and texture improved in a week. For Mich, the Sound Sleep Cocoon was one of her favourite travel companions on a recent trip abroad to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary. The no-spill packaging avoids an unwanted gooey toiletry bag and the product helps to calm and hydrate stressed skin.
Dermalogica’s Sound Sleep Cocoon is available online from Dermalogica for R1295 for 50ml which equates to approximately 95 pumps. BUY
