We joined the fashion industry at SA Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 in Sandton City, from 10 – 14 April. The designers went all out to produce very noteworthy collections for the season to come.
Just like this winter, bright colours were all the rage, with noticeably less floral than in a usual S/S season. We saw ensembles in one colour from head-to-toe and lots of colour-blocking. Intricate origami-like folds and large ruffles also featured from the likes of ERRE, Amanda Laird Cherry, Rubicon and Thebe Magugu to name a few.

ERRE stole the show with flowy, feminine creations in their usual black as well as a pop of bright colours. We also saw lots of “dresses over pants”. Click play to see the video.
Judith Atelier’s refreshing red and white was stunning. After the show we looked at the garments closeup to admire the delicate hand sewn applique. Click play to see the video.
MmusoMaxwell’s detailed tailoring and vibrant colours had everyone captivated. This duo, who are recent winners of the Sunglass Hut New Talent Search, have a bright future ahead of them. Click play to see the video.
THE TRENDS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2018
Here are the top trends for women’s wear spotted at SA Fashion Week:
Red Hot
Red remains a popular colour for the season ahead. Don’t be shy to go all-red and stand out from the crowd.

Go Green
We were delighted to see green make a return for Spring/Summer 2018. Team green with red or navy for a vibrant look.

In The Pink
Pink remains one of the most popular colours with shades ranging from magenta to pastel pink.
Happy Yellow
The happiest colour off all, yellow shines on in Spring/Summer 2018. If all-yellow is too intimidating, introduce accents and accessories in yellow.
Moody Blues
Blue is such an easy colour to wear and transcends all seasons and trends.

Ruffled Up
We saw floaty cloud-like garments that bring a bit of fun into the mix.
